May has been a month bursting at the seams with exciting adventures. Highlights this month included an all-school Water Fight on The Amazing Sunny Day, Market Day, Music Concerts, not one but two Gaisce Adventure Journeys, a trip to visit Microsoft in Dublin for the Dreamspace coders, Graduate Portfolio reviews, and Parent Chat Night.
After many months of script writing, planning and booking spaces and scouting locations, filming has commenced on Umi’s new film. We absolutely can’t wait to see the final cut.
Professional dancer Meara Kirwin came in to teach Sean nós and set dancing. We hope to have a social ceili at the end of year party with ceili and set dancing for the whole community and live performances with the many new bands forming. Details to follow very soon.
Bands the Majestic Frogs and AMBER recorded an EP onto cassette tapes, learning how to set up their recording studio and use equipment and cables with the help of other bands, older students and staff. AMBER would like to thank the Majestic Frogs for all their mentoring with equipment!
At Art club students have been learning print, first through foam then via Lino printing making their own prints, patches and custom made clothes.
We will have a very special performance of the final Act of Shakespeare’s Othello in June. Students who studied the play last year for their iGCSEs expressed interest in performing a section of the play. Supported by Troy and a group of younger students they have adapted the 5th and Final Act of the play. It will be performed for the school community in a special performance at the end of June.
Another surprise initiative this past month has been our new student led Sudbury choir, comprising staff, students and parents. READ MORE HERE
