Hello everyone!
It’s great to be back at school and to start this new year. Some of us missed school so much we began counting the number of sleeps before going back to school on the day after Christmas.
We welcomed two new students this January and sadly said goodbye to one of our veteran students who left us this year to follow her dreams. We wish her every success in her endeavours. We have a new student intern joining us for this term. Nicole is studying Early Childhood Care & Education at ATU Sligo and will intern with us for 12 weeks to experience child-led learning in action.
Junior book club are committed to working their way through the Goosebumps series and have enjoyed reading together and sharing the excitement of their weekly instalments while Art Club has been fortunate to have the expertise of Jess, who volunteered to facilitate a series of workshops on needle felting. They created some interesting characters. And finally, our brand new bouldering wall is operational. Students of all ages have been learning the skills of bouldering and climbing under the watchful eye of our resident climbing expert, Conall.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. The range of interests ongoing include Drama, Music, Thinking Skills, Cooking Club, Crochet and craft, Boardgames of all kinds, Coding, Biology, Spanish, Engineering, Sewing, Gaisce Bronze and Silver Award preparation, and much much more.
We are very excited to reveal our Sligo Sudbury School podcast, recorded live from our school. This collaborative project has been in the works for many months between students and staff. For our first episode, we interview Gayle and Maura, the two founders of Sligo Sudbury school.Founded in 2018, a lot has happened in five years and we delve into the origins of our school, the day to day workings and the plans for the future. Thank you Gayle and Maura for your time and for giving us a great insight into life in our school. We can’t wait to share future episodes with you. Please leave us a review and share with others.
