Bush Craft, Woodwork, Music, Sports and Physical Education

Role Overview – Tutors in specialist areas are vitally important to the successful running of the school.  Tutors are selected based on the needs and expressed interest areas of the students.  In addition to facilitating learning tutors are important role models for the children in many ways, and are expected to engage with the democratic philosophy of the school, demonstrate respect for others, and uphold the school’s principles of democracy, respect, freedom. The Tutor will work primarily with other staff members, with the children members of the community, and may also have contact with parents, members of the general public, and others.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable skills and experience in one of the specialised areas listed above
  • Proven ability to deliver instruction in their specialised area
  • Experience working with / tutoring children and teenagers
  • Respect for children
  • A sincere and genuine interest in the wellbeing and education of children
  • Respect for democratic process
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in English language, written and spoken

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and Preparing lessons according to individual students’ needs
  • Tutoring classes and delivering workshops as appropriate
  • Assisting students with projects and long term goals in the specialised area
  • Engaging with students in a motivating, supportive and encouraging manner

Hours contracted are 24 hours per week. Position will be subject to Garda Vetting
